Master GUKESH  D, class VII of Velammal Vidyalaya , Mel Ayanambakkam campus  participated in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2018 at Thailand conducted from 1st April to 10th April 2018. He won gold medals each respectively in the individual categories of Rapid and Blitz Open in under 12 category contesting with 1130 students from 26 countries scoring 7/7 & 8.5/9 points in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2018. In the team categories, the Grand Master contested with 1130 students from 26 countries winning gold medals each respectively in Rapid and Blitz open under 12 category in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2018.
