Calling upon participants at a refresher course to prioritise their work and go beyond the routine, the Sub Collector, Chinglepet, Mr. V…P. Jeyaseelan, IAS, maintained that there is the tendency to leave a work unfinished after an enthusiastic start. “With team work you will not only get 100 percent but 200 percent”, he said.

More than 100 village administrative officers, revenue inspectors, deputy thasildars and taluk officials of Chinglepet Taluk of Kanchipuram District are attending a three day refresher program at SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The primary objective of the program is for officials to improve their efficiency so that the public at large gets benefitted. “This is not a training program but a refresher course. Use this to develop your career”, Mr. Jeyaseelan maintained. “Is there a scope for improvement in existing services? Find our from your colleagues and improve your services”, he added.

“If you enrich yourself, people are enriched”, remarked Dr. N. Sethuraman, Registrar of SRMIST in his address to the participants going on to say that the Chancellor had given instructions to do everything for this refresher course stressing that education and health is a must for all villages and he felt privileged to extend these services for the benefit of people. Transfers cannot be avoided, but our services are permanent. We consider it as a privilege” he said underscoring the importance of the officials gathered to the comprehensive growth of the country. “You are always meeting people and this is crucial for the growth of India”, Dr. Sethuraman said.

In her welcome address, the Director of Medical services, Dr. N. Chandraprabha stressed that health is important and that prevention is better than cure. Recalling the medical facilities available at SRMIST on a 24 hour basis she pointed out that SRMIST has an excellent village outreach program having conducted 600 medical camps. “Utilise our facilities. What are your requirements? Let us know. That is the message from our Chancellor”, Dr. Chandraprabha said. The Director pointed out that SRM’s Medical College and Hospital has all specialities and super specialities as well as other popular health science programs.

“You have the opportunity to convey to people about health and life and we care about your health. Make use of our 24 hour health care including an out-patient extension right on the national highway on our campus. The Department of Community Medicine conducts regular camps in and around our campus” said Dr. Sundaram, Dean of the Medical College adding that SRM Medical and Hospital caters to more than 140 villages in and around the campus. “If you are healthy, people will be healthy”, he said.
