Trichy, Tamil Nadu, July 11, 2018: Omega Healthcare Management Services Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with NGO: Agastya International Foundation has launched a ‘Science Centre’ and a ‘Mobile Science Lab (MSL)’ at Syed Murthuza Govt. Higher Secondary School in Trichy today, as part of the long-term commitment of the company to the development of children.

The sponsored Science Center laboratory has been scientifically designed, to provide practical exposure to children in government schools via nearly 150+ science experiments and models covering Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Ecology and Astronomy. The laboratory will help nurture creativity among the children – and improve the quality of education – by helping teachers demonstrate practical knowledge to the children using the latest teaching protocols.

The ‘Mobile Science Lab (MSL)’ will travel to remote schools in and around Trichy over the year to help children of Class 5 through 10, learn and grow in the field of science and math, via 100+ hands-on science models in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Significantly, the mobile lab will offer practical lessons in science to school children in the remotest areas, which they have not had access to so far.

Launching the project, Mr. Gopi Natarajan, Co-Founder and CEO, Omega Healthcare, said, “The world is changing rapidly and a certain preparedness is essential to succeed. While there are various colleges in Trichy to make their students continuously employable, an intervention at the ground level is much required.”

“Both the projects have been designed to make the two most difficult subjects (Math and Science) easy and fun among the children. Agastya Foundation is known for creating innovative teaching methods, and by making practical, hands-on science education accessible to children in rural government schools. Omega and Agastya aim to transform the future of underprivileged children.”

Mr. S V Krishnan, Chief Operating Officer, Omega Healthcare said, “The education requirements have undergone a sea of change and today science and innovation have gained an increased focus spurred by the rapid growth of technology. We at Omega believe that it is imperative that children have the skills and knowledge needed to become successful, and practical science and math was where we perceived a gap. We are positive that this initiative will improve the learning experience for these children.”

Mr. Narayanan V, Trichy Location Head, Omega Healthcare, said, “We have always aimed at the upliftment of Trichy by providing jobs to the local communities. Under this program, the laboratory at Syed Murthuza Govt. Higher Secondary School will be open for students and teachers from the nearby schools as well. Both projects will benefit around 4,000 children annually in the city and surrounding villages, who can utilize the laboratory and test innovations in the world of science.”
