Alumni Association of College of Engineering, Guindy (AACEG) to host Global Alumni Meet ‘CEGAM 3.0’ at CEG, Chennai

Chennai, July 11, 2018: Alumni Association of CEG is organizing CEGAM 3.0 (College of Engineering, Guindy – Global Alumni Meet) on July 21 & 22, 2018 at CEG, Chennai on the special occasion of the 225th year of their College.  Alumni of the pre-independence batch (1940 batch) to the current student of 2018 are going to take part in the meet. CEG-ians from across the globe are expected to travel down for the event. The objective of this meet is to create a platform for the alumni of CEG to encourage collaboration and partnership among themselves all over the world and also with the institution and the society. The meet also creates an opportunity for them to contribute to the upliftment of the society by contributing to the alma mater.

The event will be graced by Padma Bhushan Dr. Raj Reddy (CEG 1958), Computer Scientist & Turing Award Winner, Dr. V. Balamurugan (CEG 1984), Director, CVRDE, DRDO, Chennai and Mrs. Kamala Devi Subrahmanyan (CEG 1953), Superintending Engineer (Retd.), All India Radio who is one of the oldest women engineers of CEG.

Knowledge sharing sessions and panel discussions with eminent panelists has been lined up during the event focusing on topics “Micropreneurship”, “Entrepreneurship, Incubation and Start-up at CEG”, “Women in Engineering” and “Role of Engineers in Public Policy Making”. Through CEGAM the association aims to bring in global expertise knowledge of its alumni to the state and inspire the students more into entrepreneurial venture. CEGAM will also act as a platform for those who would like to give back their expertise knowledge gained to their institute’s current batch students and the society. Alumni Association of CEG has strong online and social media presence. It aims to keep the alumni up-to-date with developments and to promote exchange of knowledge and information among alumni, a new custom portal, with search and connect with others, is being planned.

AACEG (Alumni Association of College of Engineering, Guindy) is 93 years old, and among the oldest and largest alumni associations in India, like the alma mater CEG, which is in its 225th year of existence. AACEG has a registered membership count of over 18000 and increases by more than 1500 every year. The Alumni of CEG are spread all over India and World.

Speaking about the initiative Mr. D. Vasudevan (CEG 1962), President of AACEG said, “CEGAM was conceived as an event to reconnect and strengthen the ties between alumni, students and the institution. Unlike alumni meet perceived in general, it provides the opportunity to formally give back and connect with the great institution that played an important role in the lives of many”.

“The main objective of CEGAM is to create a Global platform for all the Alumni of CEG and to encourage collaboration and partnership among them and the institution, the faculty and students. All exceeds over expenditures from the event will go towards funding the Needy Students and other student activities of AACEG” said Vish A Viswanathan (CEG 1985) and Saravan Krishna M (CEG 2015), Conveners of CEGAM.
