Donate Organs and Save Life
Chennai 16h September 2018: Organ donation is the need the hour. As, one organ donor can save up to eight lives. Owing to which Chennai International Youth Fest (CIYF) and Department of Health & Family Welfare had organized Organ donation awareness marathon. More than 10000 people participated and ran with the messages of organ donation.
The Marathon run was categorized into 4 segments, Full Marathon (42 Km), Half Marathon (21km), Dream Run (10 Km) and Fun Run (5 KM). The Extravaganza run was flagged off by Honorable Minister Dr. C. VijayaBaskar, Minister of Health & Family Welfare Government of Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Amar Prasad Reddy, Chairman CIYF said, “The graph of organ donation is increasing. Still there is a huge waiting list and people being not aware about the organ donation. It is for this reason that we have organized a marathon dedicated for the cause of organ donation”.
