UTOO CELEBRATES ITS WOMEN STAKEHOLDERS ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

utooutoo 2‘Champions @ Work; Champions @ Home’ is UTOO’s International Women’s Day theme for this year

Chennai, April, 2017: UTOO Cabs Limited today kick-started their International Women’s Day celebrations with a host of initiatives and rewards for its women drivers, employees and customers. The company has chosen ‘Champions @ Work; Champions @ Home’ as this year’s theme.

UTOO presently has 4 women drivers active in its fleet, with another set of women drivers undergoing training.  Four additional new women drivers will be inducted into the fleet on March 8. UTOO is looking at actively recruiting more women drivers into its fleet.

All of UTOO’s women drivers, like their male counterparts, are legally licensed to drive taxis. The company has shorter shifts for its women drivers to help in creating a conducive work environment for them to be successful and flourish in. They work only between 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M., as compared to the 12 hour shifts done by their male counterparts. The drivers are put through 50 hours of driving and communication skills training, and undergo rigorous tests and checks before they are deployed into the active fleet serving our customers. We are also testing and deploying additional safety features in our cars, with one of them being, ‘panic buttons’ in our UTOO cabs.

Speaking on the occasion, UTOO spokesperson Ms. Sangeetha Perumbeti said, “At UTOO, our women employees and drivers are among our top priorities. It is our continuous endeavour to ensure that they grow in a safe environment and are given the best possible care and guidance. UTOO takes pride in being an equal opportunity employer; apart from women drivers serving our customers, women makeup about 25% of our workforce. These initiatives around International Women’s Day are just our small way of saying ‘Thank You’ to the women in our environment; employees, drivers and customers; all of whom bring a unique dimension to our lives.”

UTOO’s initiatives around International Women’s Day:

▪        Safety session for all women drivers and employees, including distribution of a safety kit

▪        Complimentary spa therapy at Senza Spa on March 8, 2017 for all lady customers of UTOO
