15th SSN Trophy Championship Concluded Successfully – All India Inter Collegiate Tournament

August 22, 2017, Chennai: SSN Institutions  announced the successful conclusion of the 15th edition of SSN Trophy. The tournament, conducted duirng August 18 – 21, 2017, included eight different events in Football, Badminton, Cricket, Basketball, Chess, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis for both men and women categories.
The SSN Trophy is one of the most widely acclaimed inter-collegiate sports tournaments in the country, and provides the perfect stage for the top sports teams representing colleges from across India to compete against each other. The total prize money disbursed to winners of the SSN trophy this year is Rs. 4 lacs. This year, the SSN Trophy title was sponsored by HCL. The major teams which participated in the tournament included the hosts – SSN; Loyala Arts, Chennai; St. Francis De Sales, Bangalore; VNRVJIT, Hyderabad; IIT Madras; PSG Arts, Coimbatore; M.D. College, Kerala; St. Joseph’s, Trichy; St. Joseph’s, Bangalore; and Bishop’s Bangalore among others.
The inauguration ceremony held on August 18, 2017, was presided over by Chief Guest, Shri. Akilan Pari, Indian Basketball Team Captain and Dr. S. Salivahanan, Principal of SSN College of Engineering.
Commenting on the significance of the SSN Trophy, Ms. Kala Vijaykumar, President, SSN College of Engineering, said “We at SSN have always laid great emphasis on creating well-rounded students, who can excel in both academics and sports. This Championship is one of the major sporting events on the SSN calendar and we hope we can contribute towards nurturing future sports stars by offering them a national-level platform.”
Akilan Pari, Indian Basketball Team Captain said “The SSN Trophy is a challenging tournament for the players, but immensely entertaining for the other students. During the three-day tournament, each player competes against a new opponent each day. The dedication and enthusiasm seen during the Championship is commendable.”
