Bajaj Finserv and Impact India foundation inaugurates Lifeline Express in Barmer, Rajasthan

Barmer / Chennai, September 26, 2017: Bajaj Finance Ltd., lending arm of Bajaj Finserv, India’s most diversified financial service company along with Impact India Foundation launched the 185th project of Lifeline Express, world’s first hospital on train today in Barmer, Rajasthan. The Lifeline Express will be based at Barmer railway station for a period of 20-days starting September 26, 2017.

Lifeline Express was inaugurated by Mrs. Veenu Gupta, Principal Secretary, Health along with Mr Ajay Sathe, Head – CSR, Bajaj Finance Ltd and Anil Prem Sagar, Deputy Manager, Impact India Foundation.Lifeline Express aims to provide free medical services to people suffering from various kinds of disabilities, mainly disorders of the eye, ear, nose, throat limbs etc.

Lifeline Express provides easy access to on-the-spot medical facilities and surgical interventions to the underserved and underprivileged populace in smaller towns. The seven coaches of Life Line Express have facilities like Operation Theatres, Pathology Lab, Mammography unit, Gynaecology Examination Room, Dental Unit, Pharmacy, Consultation Cubicles, X-RAY Rooms, etc. WiFiinstalled in the train enables doctors sitting in a metropolitan city examine patient’s x-ray reports and other images.

Doctors with different expertise will counsel and treat ailments like Cataract,Middle Ear problems, Cleft Lip, Cerebral Palsy, Club foot, Dental, Polio, etc. Oral, Breast & Cervical Cancer (Awareness, Screening & Diagnostic services). This team of doctors will also provide counsel on Family Health Services, Epilepsyand Stroke Prevention Program.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Ajay Sathe, Head- CSR, Bajaj Finserv said, “We are privileged to bring Lifeline Express to the people of Barmer.There is a significant majority of people in India who do not haveaccess to medical facilities and in some cases are troubled by ailments that can be cured easily these days.This initiative aims to provide world class medical facilities to these people.Lifeline Express has treated over 1million people since its inception.”

Impact India Foundation was founded by Zelma Lazarus in 1983 as part of National Plan of Action Against Avoidable Disablement with the active support of UNDP, WHO and UNICEF.
