Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women, a unit of Sri. S.S. Jain Educational Society located in T. Nagar, Chennai not only concentrates in education but also in social welfare through various National Service Schemes.

As a part of one step ahead they have started the process of adopting the village, Kaliyanoor in Kanchipuram district. As a first step, according to Swachh Bharat campaign by our honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the Kaliyanoor Panchayat Union Middle School’s restroom has been renovated facilitating better hygiene for the students.

The library building which was not being used was given a new lease of life. The college has provided the library with fans, lights, book racks and over 200 books. Both English and Tamil newspaper will be henceforth available in the library and people can have awareness about the day today happenings.

To continue with these schemes, the social welfare clubs of the college have given plan of action to the people of the village. The villagers have expressed their happiness since the first step taken by the college has been useful for them.

The College Associate Secretary, Sri. R. Ashok Kumar Mehta, Management Committee Member, Mrs. Usha Abhaya Kumar, and the Principal, Dr. B.Poorna graced the occasion as the chief guests.
