Over 2,000 post cards sent to TN Governor for eco-friendly Deepavali

Over 2,000 students of Velammal school between class three and five sent post cards to the Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit today with a message that they are celebrating eco-friendly Deepavali. The event was organised by the school management to mark the occasion of the festival of lights which is around the corner.

On the occasion, Velammal educational trust Correspndent Mr. MVM Vel Mohan , said, ‘With the pollution increasing in the atmosphere in a rapid pace, there is a definite need to have a check on the sources of pollution. So, we at Velammal are happy to kick start this eco-friendly initiative this year. When the festival of lights is celebrated in an eco friendly manner, it not only gives us happiness but also to the the environment which protects us and gives shelter.’

Adding to his words, the school principal,Y  Hemalatha, said, ‘Students who are the future of the society should become the torch bearers for this initiative. When the entire country bursts crackers on a single day, we can imagine the extent to which the environment gets polluted and becomes injurious to our health. On this occasion, let us take the pledge to make our Deepavali celebrations greener.’

During the event all the post cards were collected and will be posted to the Governor’s address  shortly.
