Hindustan King Pongs champions of the inaugural edition
Chennai, November 26th 2017: The most sought after Table Tennis Super League organized by Indusports Leagues India LLP in association with 11even Sports held in The Forum Vijaya Mall – Chennai on November 24th to 26th, 2017. The event was conducted under the aegis of both Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Association (TNTTA) and Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI)
The finals happened between Hindustan King Pongs and Time-link Mobie Charges. The finals extended for almost 4 hours of fight between both the teams. The Team Hindustan King Pongs defeated the opponent and went on to grab the prestigious trophy of “TTSL – Season 1” championship.
There were a total of 8 teams participated in the League and each team is franchised to leading corporates and brands. The event started with
‘Players Auction’ held in GRT Grand Days, and each team was given a purse of Rs.1,40,000/-to purchase 6 players of different categories.
The players were categorized as Men, Women, Jr. Boys, Jr. Girls, Cadet Boys and Veterans to play different formats of the game. The teams are split into 2 groups as Group A& Group B, with 4 teams in each group. Each team played, 9 different formats, against all the teams within their group to qualify for play offs.
The grand launch of the event with jersey unveiling happened at The Hyatt Regency. The stage glittered with celebrities like Mrs. Vita Dhani, Founder of 11even sports and the ISL Franchise of ChennayinFC ,Bollywood Star AbhishekBachan, The ArcotNawabZada Mohammed Asif Ali, Bharath Joshi – British Deputy High Commissioner, Dr.Kamalesh Mehta (Arjuna Awardee), Venugopal Chandrasekhar (Arjuna Awardee) and others.
At the Forum Venue the game was flagged off by US Consulate General Robert Burges. Big Boss winner Aarav, Padma Sri ArunaSai Ram, the Football Super Stars of Chennaiyin FC – MailsonAlves and Dhanpal Ganesh witnessed the match, cheered and interacted with players and also rolled their hands on the TT board.
During the 3 days of the play the city had witnessed some fantastic game of Table Tennis from the Tamil Nadu players. In Group A – Hindustan King Pongs and Time Link Mobie Charges advanced to play offs. In Group B – Jeppiaar Smashers and Green rockers advanced to play offs.
1st Semi-finals happened between Jeppiaar Smashers and Time link Mobie Charges, in which Time Link Mobie Charges came victorious to play for the Finals. 2nd Semi-finals happened between Hindustan King Pongs and Green Rockers, in which Hindustan King Pongs won and advanced to Finals.
The winning team is given Rs.1 Lakh as prize money. The Runner-up was awarded Rs.50,000/-. Both the semi-finalist were given Rs.25,000/- each. The rewards were sponsored by Naturals.
The game is witnessed by more than 3 lakhs of general public at the Forum Vijaya Mall, with overwhelming cheering from spectators for their favourite stars and favourite teams.
