Chennai – December 15, 2017 – To encourage budding entrepreneurs in the city, TiE Chennai organised an interactive session on “Marketing as Practised” at IITM Research Park in Chennai recently. The session was packed with entrepreneurs from various business backgrounds who actively participated in the discussions.

Mr. Vikas Gupta initiated the session by stating that religion was the best-marketed product and there is much to learn for a budding entrepreneur from religion. The speaker then went on to put forward real live examples aka case studies on the marketing of various products such as Ariel, Coca – Cola, etc., to emphasise on what worked and what did not. The speaker being a part of the marketing team for Ariel and Coke had a good insight on what happened behind the scenes and what followed post the marketing campaign.

“See the world from a consumer’s perspective” is his advice to all budding entrepreneurs out there. Only when we go out and talk to the consumers and find out what they need will we be able to succeed, says Vikas who then went on to explain the importance of capturing the online world of marketing, highlighting how India is set to have the maximum number of active Internet users by the year 2020 and therefore the need to have a strong presence online.

Speaking on the topic of online presence, he is of the opinion that embracing the regional languages is the best way to go at it; the English speaking population in our Nation is quite low and only when entrepreneurs tap into the regional languages will they be able to connect with a majority of the active internet users in India.

Commenting on the session, Mr. V Shankar, President, TiE Chennai said, “Marketing is quite an essential aspect for any business, entrepreneurs usually agree to this fact on principle but when it comes to the actual implementation they forget to give marketing its due importance. We thank Mr. Vikas for sharing his instrumental thoughts and experiences through the marketing industry that will help empower our budding entrepreneurs in every possible way.”

The session was organized by TiE Chennai in their continuous efforts to empower entrepreneurs in the city. The session is designed to provide a forum for budding entrepreneurs and will give them the opportunity to meet and discuss trends in the industries as well as networking with each other. TiE Chennai will be bringing together prominent entrepreneurs from the various industry, venture capitalists, analysts and senior executives to share their thoughts and insights with upcoming entrepreneurs at regular meetings throughout the year.
