Chennai, 4th  March 2018: Reiterating its commitment to the creator community, YouTube celebrated the amazing success of YouTube content creators from Chennai who have captured the imagination of audiences all across India and abroad on its platform. At a press event for its first ever YouTube FanFest in Chennai, YouTube congratulated some of the fastest growing Tamil language content creators like Agam with Kappa TV, ErumaSaani, evam Standup Tamasha, Madras meter, Put Chutney and Smile Settai who have got an entire new generation of audience hooked onto their content and inspiring new creators to get behind the camera and take center stage. National YouTube creators like Singhs Unplugged and Team Naach also expressed their excitement to be performing live for their Chennai fans.

Talking about YouTube’s plans to further grow the content creator ecosystem in Chennai, Satya Raghavan, Head of Entertainment, YouTube in India, said, “With more people coming online especially in tier 2 cities, we’re seeing more hunger for YouTube content across all genres. In 2017, YouTube crossed 220 million monthly active users, and we’re seeing India’s appetite for YouTube grow faster than ever before. In August last year, YouTube had also celebrated YouTube Tamil Day in Chennai where the company recognised some of the fastest growing creators from Tamil Nadu and got established creators to share their secret formula to success on YouTube, with the emerging creators.
