Chennai, 07 Mar: International Cultural Fest of SRM Deemed to be University ‘MILAN 2018’ 11th of its edition got inaugurated by the new all-time favourite fame of Tollywood Vijay Devarakonda from Arjun Reddy movie. The day 1 of the fest witnessed an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 6000 people at Dr.T.P. Ganesan auditorium.
Milan ’18 witnessed the presence of Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor SRM Deemed to be University along with Vijay Devarakonda – Actor, Vice Chancellor Dr.Sandeep Sancheti, Registrar Prof. N. Sethuraman, Dr. (Col) C.P. Ramchandani Director – Student Affair & Campus Life. While addressing the gathering Chancellor said “I see all of the students seated here and each one of you will be a shining star in your own field or an actor just like our young chief guest Mr.Vijay Devakonda”. He also said that Milan is a fest that provides students with great opportunities to express their talent and get rewarded for the same.
Actor Vijay Devarakonda interacted with the students and sparkled like a star that he is. He said “I am witnessing such a big cultural fest for the first time and lovely welcome from students”. When asked to recite a dialogue from his movie he said “Every actor does that but, today I wanted to tell you to decide for yourself because once I did, the power is in your hands”. His speech was followed by few performances and continued to a small interactive session.
The crowd enjoyed an Oscar winning movie “The Shape of Water” after the cheerful interaction and fun time with the star. The movie night was a great welcome amongst the students were thrilled about the screening and said that the movie was a good warm start for the other 4 days of the fest which starts from early morning and end late in the night.
The number of participant colleges overallgoes up to 800 for Milan, 160 different events are planned for the participants. The fest will see the arrival of people from almost over 40 countries participating & enjoying, Milan has ‘Lived the Change’ as their tagline says, 5 continents out of world’s 7 will be present at Milan. Cash prizes of over 20 lakh over the course of the fest are the win and take home but more importantly, the recognition associated with it.
With all the happenings, SRM’s Milan is not only about the large turnout of people for the Cultural Voyage, but the team Milan along with the management held a social responsibility and organised an event called “Butterflies” for children from
government schools. Milan aimed at providing the exposure of university life and infrastructure to the children from schools around Kancheepuram. At SRMIST thechildrenparticipated in many activities some of them included, teaching children to sustain & increase their memory, easy way to read and apply things practically from books etc., it ended with distribution of food, books & stationery to the school children.
With the pumping line-up and exciting cash prizes on board, SRM’s Milan ’18 is going to a blockbuster on its own right. With the success of day 1, Milan ’18 is expected to footfall of 70,000 from all over the world. On the course of the 5 days, the festival is going to leave a dent in the history of cultural shows worldwide.
