New Chennai, India – May 25, 2016: Former Indian International , Raman Vijayan has started a soccer school in Chennai in collaboration with sports nation. This soccer school has taken an initiative to develop the grass root program in the entire south India. As the first step they have conducted 3 For the last 3 weeks residential summer camp in AvignaSports Village, behind Mahindra World City, with boys undergoing a high performance football coaching.
The valedictory function of the residential camp of the first batch of Raman Vijayan Soccer School (RVSS) was held at Maharishi VidyaMandir School at Echanakaranai Village on Wednesday, 25th May, 2016.
Launching the RVSS School, Raman Vijayan said, “Football is a passion in India and my dream is to have boys from RVSS School to play for European clubs someday. When I started, there were no quality training centres in our Tamilnadu state. The purpose of my School is to address these twin issues: provide the best global standards training facilities and also tie-up with schools and colleges that have large playgrounds.”
Raman Vijayan Soccer School (RVSS) in joint venture with SportsNation has also signed up with Ivor Gumm. He is the head coach from England and has trained premium clubs like Southampton FC, Bristol FC and Bristol Rovers FC in a distinguished coaching career spanning over two decades. Raman Vijayan emphasizeson the importance of football in the growing years, “Football is 80% mental and 20% physical, I have seen how the game helps develop virtues like team spirit, fair play and shores up confidence and self-esteem in the growing teen years of boys.”
For this 3 weeks summer camp the coaching staff were from England, Romania, Nigeria and closer home from Mumbai and Chennai.Mr.Rajasekar, Managing Director of Avigna Properties, “ We have the best infrastructure for football at AvignaSports Village and my association with RVSS we are starting a new chapter of football rising in schools and colleges in our state.” .
Sport Nation’s CEO Mr. A R Bala says, “Raman Vijayan is so passionate on improving the standard of football in Tamilnadu. With the launch of RVSS they will bring in technical expertise to coaching while Sportsnation would be the marketing partners. RVSS offers three types of coaching: a) Basic course for beginners b) Advanced course and finally c) Elite Academy where the most talented boys will play host to a residential programme that includes academics as well as football training. These training programmes will be conducted by UEFA and AFC certified coaches and on par with European standards training method for appropriate age-groups between 8 to 18 years of age.
Raman Vijayan says,” I have been seeing great talents are available in the state. There is no proper directions and pathway for the kids who really want to make into the next level. This derived me to start a soccer school with a long term project. RVSS is planning to have a six months league where in every weekends there would be matches for different age-groups and this would serve as a talent spotting occasion. We are planning to set up many soccer schools all over the state. In Avigna city we will run our weekend programs and annual programs. This will be our Elite centre where we will be setting our Elite Academy exclusively next year. In the next 2-3 years RVSS boys will take part in Chennai League, I-league under 13, under 15 and under 18 which creates a platform for the playersto get into the ISL and I leagues.
