As an Institution, we deeply regret an unfortunate incident that has caused pain to one of the students. The culprit in question is an outsourced contractual employee who collects food waste from the mess. Having circumvented basic security provisions, he was in the lift when the incident occurred. As the hostel is well equipped with CCTV, it helped us to identify the culprit quickly.

Following protocol and therefore seeking the consent of the parents resulted in a slight delay in lodging a complaint with the police, during which the situation escalated. After assessing the situation and understanding the concerns. Subsequently the institution lodged a complaint with the police who swung into action and arrested the culprit at around 3:30 AM.

Based on the incident occurred a committee has been commissioned to look into the issue and the warden has been suspended. It is also looking into strengthening the safety and security measures of the students in the campus.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology will continue to be an institution that will strive to better maintain the safety of the students.On any given day, there are woman guards and counselors who are at the service of students. The students are given freedom to voice their concerns, issues and challenges.
