The First International Conference was organized by SRM VEC on the topic “ International Conference on Smart Automation in Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering” (ICSA-2K19) on 6th August 2019.The International Conference was organized with the primary objective of bringing together academicians and practitioners in all associated fields on a common platform to share their knowledge and expertise so as to contribute towards research and development in the field of Smart Automation.
About 70 papers on diverse topics encompassing Smart Automation , Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks, Image Processing, Internet of Things(IoT), Embedded wireless systems, Bio informatics, Multi Machine Systems, Feedback Control Systems, Grid Computing, Advanced VLSI System, Automation in Road Transport, Automation in construction activity, Industrial Robots, High voltage Engineering, Human Computer Interaction and many more were received for the conference from reputed institutes across the country.
The expert panel selected around 40 papers for presentation in the Conference after careful scrutiny.
The inaugural session of the conference began with the invocation followed by the Welcome Address by Dr.M.Murugan,Vice-Principal SRM Valliammai Engineering College.
Dr.B.Chidambararajan, Principal,SRM Valliammai Engineering college delivered his presidential address. Dr. T.P. Ganesan, Director, SRM VEC graced the occasion with his August presence. The Chief Guest’s Introduction was given by Dr.V.Dhanakoti, Associate professor,Department of CSE and the chief guest, Mr.Arunachalam Jayaraman, Senior Director-GCTS,Virtusa addressed the gathering by a brief note on Smart Automation. Finally, the Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.R.Karthick, Associate Professor, Department of Electricals and electronics engineering.
Following this, the Chief Guest of the function, Mr.Arunachalam Jayaraman, Senior Director- GCTS, Virtusa presented the keynote address.
In his address he highlighted the importance of organizing such conferences for the benefit of student community as well as for the Faculties. He pointed out the importance and significance of smart automation in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, Computer and Communication Engineering.
He also briefed on home automation and industrial automation. He explained about the fourth industrial revolution and its impacts. Information’s regarding Mobile Phone Networks such as, 2G,3G,4G and 5G Networks were also dealt. He also stressed on “Human relevant change in Intelligent Automation”.
With this the inaugural session was concluded and after a short break the plenary lecture session was started by the introduction of the speaker Dr.C.Senthil Kumar, who has almost 19 years of experience in Industrial Automation. He is responsible for sales and marketing of automation and Digital Solutions in FL Smidth’s, Mining Division, Chennai.
His plenary lecture focused on Industrial Automation and Digitalization where new terminologies related to this field was discussed. He made a note on Artificial Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic Controller, Model Based Predictive Controller, etc.

He made the session interesting by making the audience witness the Robotics Lab concepts through his presentation. Various queries were discussed throughout the session and the audience interacted with the speaker efficiently.
The International Conference had 4-Tracks which includes ECE in a Single track ,CSE/IT, MECH/CIVIL and EEE/EIE in different tracks.
The ECE track was chaired by Mr.Arunachalam Jayaraman, Senior Director- GCTS, Virtusa and Co-chaired by Dr.Komala James, Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The CSE/IT track was chaired by Dr.Arun Sundaraman, Accenture and Co-chaired by Dr.B.Vanathi, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The MECH/CIVIL track was chaired by Mr.R.Mathiyalakan, L&T Construction and Co-chaired by Dr.D.Elango Head, Department of Civil Engineering.
The EEE/EIE track was chaired by Mr.T.Senthil Kumar, FLSmidth Pvt. Ltd. and Co-chaired by Dr.K.Elango, Professor and Head, Department of Electricals and Electronics Engineering.
After Consolidation, the Best papers were awarded for each track with special certificates. Following this the participants were requested to give their valuable feedback and the feedbacks obtained were found to be very good.
