Fomra Charitable Trust, a renowned educational trust & SMK Fomra Institute of Technology had launched Fomra Science Olympiad 2014-15 preliminary round in October 2014 for Government and other higher secondary schools. More than 150 schools participated in the first round and over 10,000 12th standard students appeared for the science test.
The school toppers from each school of preliminary round contested in the Grand Finale today at D G Vaishnav College. Top 3 winning students of finale were awarded handsome cash prizes & trophies. Based on overall performance, 3 top schools, Zion mat Hr. Sec. School, Muruga Thanushkodi Girls Hr Sec School, and Bhartiyar Mat hr Sec Schools were awarded trophies. Other toppers of preliminary round too were felicitated with cash awards and medals. The event was attended by school principals, students and their parents.
Students and parents were seem spellbound by talks from educational experts who spoke on how to handle stress of board exam, and tips on performing better on each subject in the annual exam by following simple steps.
Speaking at the function Mr. Srikumar Fomra, Trustee of Fomra Charitable Trust said “ its our endeavour to support and encourage education among all sections of the society and our trust which has history of nearly 30 years has always stood by meritorious students by offering them scholarships”.
During the event, details of scholarships were also announced. Principals of schools who took part in Science Olympiad were informed to recommend deserving students but with weak economical background from their schools for Fomra Trust scholarship to pursue their higher studies.
Looking at the overwhelming response for Fomra Science Olympiad 2014-15 from several schools in Chennai, management of Fomra trust has indicated that for the year 2015-16, they will plan for the Science Olympiad across Tamilnadu.
