Mega Blood Donation Camp Held on November 27, 2022 to Mark the 75th NCC Raising Day
To mark the occasion of the 75th NCC Raising Day, 1 (TN) R & V Sqn NCC and other units of NCC Group Madras A organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp on November 27, 2022 at MCC Senior Secondary School, Chetpet. NCC organized the event in association with the Rotary Club of Chennai Prestige (RCCP). 504 donors registered for the blood donation at the venue.
Thiru Ma. Subramaniam, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated the event through video conference. He said that Tamil Nadu is a leading state in blood donation. He highlighted the importance of blood donation and how it is critical to save several lives. He wished and congratulated Rotary Club of Chennai Prestige and NCC for the program.
Commander NCC Group Hqrs, Madras ‘A’, Col Jarnail Singh appreciated the enthusiastic blood donation by the NCC cadets. Lt Col Mr. Samuel J Premkumar, OC, 1 (TN) R&V Sqn said, “NCC Raising Day is celebrated every year on the 4th Sunday of November. To mark 75 years of Raising, a series of social service and adventure activities have been planned by HQ DG NCC throughout the year, starting from 27 Nov 2022 to 27 Nov 2023.”
Rtn. DR. K.P Vijayakumar, Project Chairman and Director PR, said that RCCP has been organizing blood donation camps regularly. “Four blood banks from the city and one from Tiruvannamalai collected the blood units. To encourage blood donation, donors were given certificates, refreshments, and pet water bottles,” said Vijayakumar.
Cadets, alumni, students from over 35 colleges, the NCC Staff from over 60 schools/colleges, officers, PI staff, and State Government staff volunteered to donate blood. The occasion saw the participation of a large number of people and Rotary members who volunteered to donate blood.
