Opening Ceremony: PVR – Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai Sathyam Screen (12th of December, 2024 at 6:00 pm)
Closing Ceremony: PVR – Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai Sathyam screen (19th of December, 2024 at 6:00 pm)
The submission process for the Tamil Films Competition category was communicated through the press, postings on the official website, and social media pages, with the deadline for receiving entries set as 2nd November, 2024. A total of 25 films were selected by the Preview Committee.
Similar to the previous year, we organized the competition for the World Cinema category, inviting entries through the FilmFreeway website, and the response was encouraging. The preview committee selected 12 films for this category. The awards for the Tamil film competition and World Cinema Competition will be unveiled during the closing ceremony.

Indian Panorama
A total of 16 films were selected by the preview committee under the Indian Panorama category, representing the best of Indian cinema. Out of the 16 films we are receiving 6 films from the Directorate of Film Festivals, National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), India.
Short films by the students of Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film & Television Institute
Best 10 films by the Diploma students of the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film & Television Institute will be screened at the festival.
Master Talks:
A special premiere for over 5+ movies will take place as part of “Master Talks” at the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Festival Director, Mr AVM K Shanmugam, which is a special initiative introduced in this edition of the festival. As a part of this initiative film directors and crew will be honoured, and they will be briefly interacting with the audience before or after the screening of the film.
Masterclasses & Conversations:
A set of over 10 sessions are planned with eminent personalities from the film industry to conduct a series of masterclasses and conversations for the student community. The Department of Visual Communication, Avichi College of Arts & Science will curate and organize the masterclasses and conversations.
Student Volunteers:
This year we will be taking student volunteers from Avichi College of Arts & Science, Ethiraj College for Women and Hindustan College of Arts & Science.
