SRM Arts and Science College was founded by the reputed Educationist dynamic Founder, Chairman and Chancellor of SRM University in the year 1993. The total strength of the college now stands at 2335. There are 19 departments at the UG and PG   levels. There are 108 teaching faculty to guide and motivate the students.

SRM Arts and Science College continues to be the centre of excellence in learning and it has been proven by the University Results. We are proud to state that more than 44 students have secured Top 50 Ranks in University of Madras.

• Sushma Sarah Thomas, M.Sc Visual Communication has secured the Gold Medal in the University Examination among several affiliated colleges.
• We have very effective placement cell for campus recruitment. During this academic year 100% of the students among eligible in both UG and PG have been placed in 50 National and Multinational Companies.
• In this academic year (2015-2016) fee concession has been given to 81 students by the Management and this amount to Twenty One lakhs and fifty nine thousand rupees.
• The University of Madras has requested all colleges to render free education to five students. Our Management has been doing this service for many years. This academic year, 43 students have been given free education that is 100% fee exemption.
• Our Institution has set a land mark in encouraging research scholars. During this academic year faculty members from various departments have presented nearly 50 papers in both National and International Conferences. Some of the papers have been published in the ISBN proceeding and books.
• Our students have brought many glories to the Institution by participating in various competitions. They have won as many as 100 prizes in cultural, academic and literary competitions held in State and National Levels.
• In this 20^th Graduation Ceremony, 413 graduates of UG and PG are above to receive degrees in their respective subjects.

The Chief Guest speech:

The Chief Guest Justice R. Mahadevan, High Court Judge, Chennai, spoke about 5^th century Nalanda University and compared that ancient university with SRM Group of Institutions, SRM Arts and Science college. He discussed about the standard of SRM Group of Institutions which is known worldwide in this 21^st century. He advised the young graduates to develop their knowledge along with extra curricular. In this competitive world, after attaining the success, the students have to take their relatives and close one along with them to the society where the human value is respected, through that the students can create well disciplined and respectable society to the world.
