In the Kongu region, a hardworking farmer is affectionately referred to as “Nallapadan”. Nallapadan (Parotta Murugesan), a poor farmer from a village in this region, lives with his daughter and son. When his son Velan (Vijayan) falls into a well and gets injured, Nallapadan prays to the local deity Ondimuni, vowing to sacrifice a goat if his son recovers.

When the boy miraculously recovers, Nallapadan offers a goat as a sacrifice to the deity. However, years pass, and the village is plagued by the bitter rivalry between two powerful landlords, Periya Pannadi (Karthikeyan) and Chinna Pannadi (Murugan). Due to their ego clash, the annual festival for Ondimuni hasn’t been held in years, and Nallapadan is unable to fulfill his vow. The goat has grown, and Nallapadan is desperate to find a way to offer it to the deity. With the temple about to reopen and the festival preparations underway, Nallapadan tries to broker peace between the two feuding landlords to save his promise.

Meanwhile, Nallapadhn’s daughter, who was recently married, is thrown out of her in-laws’ house for not bringing enough dowry and returns to her father’s home. Nallapadan’s son, Velan, decides to sell the goat to buy a motorcycle for his love interest. On another note, the government asks Karthikeyan, a wealthy landowner, to donate 5 acres of land for a pond to provide water to the villagers, but he refuses. Instead, he concocts a plan to gain control over the 5 acres by agreeing to hold the festival for Ondimuni and getting the villagers to sign a document unknowingly. Later, the other landlord also agrees to hold the festival, and it begins. However, an unexpected and shocking incident occurs. What happens next? Will Nallapadan be able to fulfill his vow and sacrifice the goat to Ondimuni? The rest of the movie unfolds with these questions.

Parotta Murugesan effortlessly brings out the emotional depth of the poor farmer, Nallapadhan, conveying the character’s innocence, helplessness, and moral struggle with remarkable ease. His portrayal is outstanding, and he thoroughly deserves the award for Best Character Actor. Vijayan and Vidhya Sakthivel complement Parotta Murugesan’s performance with their strong acting, adding depth to the narrative with nuanced portrayals of rural life and relationships.

The entire cast, including Karthikeyan as Periya Pannadi, Chitra Natarajan as Thangamma, Murugan as Chinna Pannadi, Senapathi as the son-in-law, and Vikadan as the velan’s friend, have all delivered authentic performances, truly embodying the characters of rural villagers.

The background score by Natarajan Sankaran is stirring, effectively prolonging the emotional resonance of each scene and leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The cinematography by Vimal is stunning, capturing the rustic charm and tranquil landscapes of rural Tamil Nadu with cultural sensitivity, bringing to life the essence of the Kongu region and its people.
