“Vengeance” movie produced by A.P. Ashok Kumar under the banner of AC Productions directed by Rahul Ashok, Music by Karthik Raja, Original Background Score: Arun Raj, Starring by ABARNATHI, ILAVARASU, JOHN VIJAY, KAALI VENKAT, LIVINGSTON, Y.GEE.MAHENDRAN, SARAVANA SUBBIAH, T.M.KARTHIK SRINIVASAN, SURESH CHAKARAVARTHI, NOBLE K. JAMES, SACHU, MANGAL, SAIDHANYAA, REKHA NAIR, SAMYUKTHA & Many Others.
“Vengeance” movie is a political drama with elements of emotion, thriller, and revenge. Abarnathi plays the lead role of a collector with a craving for fame and a vengeful streak. The story follows her rise and fall, and her eventual comeback.
Veni (Abarnathi), a student in a government school, feels neglected and develops an inferiority complex as no one pays attention to her. Her father encourages her to study well and score good marks in 10th grade. Veni tops the district, and for the next 3 days, she’s showered with praises. But on the 4th day, she struggles to accept the sudden drop in attention. To draw attention back to herself, she does something drastic. This marks the beginning of her journey, and she eventually becomes the Collector of the same district.
The director of the movie Rahul Ashok, attempts to narrate Veni’s political maneuvers for fame as a thrilling political thriller, where her schemes to regain attention lead to a gripping story.
The thrilling aspect seems to have stayed with the director’s idea and refused to translate onto the screen. The scenes play out in a straightforward, predictable manner, lacking excitement from start to finish. The way the story’s told and filmed is a major reason for this. When a schoolgirl kills someone much heavier than her, there’s gotta be some logic to it. But the director’s all like to inserting twists without worrying about logic.
These scenes make for a below-average movie experience. The one saving grace is Abarnathi’s acting – she nails the character of Veni in looks and portrayal of the heroine is on point – her face, acting, demeanor, and style all fit the character. Her actions as Collector and later her alignment with the ruling party are engaging. The director shows her craving for fame from a young age, with a vengeful streak. Abarnathi shines in these scenes.
Supporting Artistes Ilavarasu, John Vijay, Livingston, Y. Gee Mahendran, Kaali Venkat – all the characters in the movie feel monotonous. John Vijay’s portrayal of the powerful minister, resembling a central minister, is enjoyable, especially his villainy and dialogue delivery. Ilavarasu as CM and Livingston as opposition leader bring some real-life politics vibes, with Livingston’s character standing out. Kaali Venkat leaves an impression as Abarnathi’s dad in flashbacks. The rest, like the PM and Governor.
However, the movie has its flaws. The pacing is predictable, and some scenes feel half-baked due to budget constraints. The supporting characters, like the CM, Governor, and opposition leader, lack depth. The plot has too many loose ends, and Aparna’s character lacks relatability.
The only standout is Karthik Raja’s music, Arun Raj’s background which gives this average film a boost. M.S. Prabhu’s Cinematography plays viral role. Imran’s editing is connecting the audience. Vairabalan’s art direction work is apt to the movie.Writer & Director Rahul Ashok did great job.
“Vengeance” movie is average, with some standout performances but plenty of room for improvement.
