Chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday flagged off 100 two-wheelers and 250 cycles for Chennai Metropolitan police for surveillance of city areas. Apart from the vehicles, the chief minister also distributed 100 e-challaan machines.
Policemen involved in the surveillance will also be given specially designed shirts, helmets, sirens for vehicles and LED lights for easy navigation of police vehicles even in crowded areas.
Five traffic policemen received e-challaan machines from the chief minister at a function at the secretariat. Chief secretary Rama Mohana Rao, home secretary Apurva Varma, DGP Ashok Kumar and senior officials were present.
