His Excellency Dr. K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu, gave away Chennais Amirta’s 100% scholarship letters and unveiled insurance plans to its students in a function organised recently (5th July 2016) at the college campus.
Mr. C. Narasimhan, Former MP and Chairman, Raasi Group of Companies and Mr. Paraman Pachaimuthu, Founder of Malarchi Foundation addressed the gathering. Mr. R. Boominathan, CEO of Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management, presented details on the insurance scheme to the students and faculty.
Mr. A. Hoda, Chairman & MD, United India Insurance; Mr. S.K. Kalaiarasan, CEO, Tharshal Group of Companies, Malaysia; Mr. Jai Nanak Singh, CEO, Training Minds, Malaysia, were special invitees of the occasion.
Ms. Swaksha Sreedhar, student of the institute, gave the felicitation address; Ms. Kavitha Nandakumar, COO, Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management, welcomed the gathering, Mr. J. Scholarships
The institute has rolled out plans for scholarships to its students who give their best in academics, attendance, and attitude during the first year of their course. Subsequently, full scholarship support will be provided during their second and third year of studies. Accordingly, in the first phase, 10 students were selected as exemplary and were offered 100% scholarship letter during the event.
Insurance
Chennais Amirta is providing free accident insurance coverage to 5,000 of its students. Moreover, it has assured medical and accident insurance support to its 600 faculties too.

It is a pleasure to present offer letters, Scholarships, Free Life Insurance for Staff & Students of Chennais Amrita International Institute of Hotel Management and address the students and this distinguished gathering here today. India is known for its rich heritage, culture and tradition, humaneness, hospitality and friendly relations with the nations across the globe. The people of Tamil Nadu are known for their compassion, kindness, hospitality and their rich culture stands testimony to this. The Indian Tourism and Hospitality Industry has emerged as one of the key drivers of growth among the services sectors in India. Tourism in India has significant potential because of its rich cultural and heritage, variety in ecology, terrains and places of natural beauty spread across the country. Tourism is also a large employment generator besides being a significant source of foreign exchange for the country. It is high time the tourism industry formulates plans to meet the increasing demand of skilled and trained manpower by enhancing hospitality education on par with international standards and in upgrading skills of existing service providers. The tourism and hospitality sector is among the top 15 sectors in which India attracts highest Foreign Direct Investment. I am told that during the period from April 2000 till September 2015, the Hotel and Tourism sector has attracted around 8.48 billion US Dollars of FDI, according to the data released by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP). Job Opportunities in the Hotel Industry are on rise. Many companies have invested in the tourism and hospitality sector in India realizing India’s potential. India’s travel and tourism industry’s growth is on a high trajectory with the inflow of medical tourists. On introduction of e- 2 visa scheme the tourism industry is expected to expand further and tourist inflow to India will double. I congratulate the initiatives taken by Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management to provide skill based training. I am sure this will facilitate more employment opportunities. The efforts taken by Chennais Amirta to provide Practical Skill Based training to students will be very helpful. I am happy to learn that in the recently organized Job Fair in Chennais Amirta 2,286 students got placement. I appeal to the Members of Hotel Industry to take the richness and the medicinal importance of the Food of Tamil Nadu to the nations across the globe. I congratulate the Faculties of this institute for training their students not only in Hospitality sector but also for enabling them to participate in many CSR and outreach programmes like Mass cleaning, Blood donation and in other social activities. I am sure that the 100% Scholarship provided to the deserving students will encourage the young minds to do their best. I congratulate the Students of Chennais Amirta for winning prizes in Bakery and Bar Tending Competitions conducted by South Indian Culinary Association (SICA). The initiatives by Chennais Amirta to provide health & accident coverage under the United India Life Insurance plan to its Staff and Students deserve a special mention. I wish the Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management grow from strength to strength in the years to come.
