Chennai, July 26, 2016 – To inspire the idea of smart cities and the technology among the entrepreneurs, Technology Special Interest Group of TiE Chennai organized a discussion on “Smart City Technologies”. Mr. V. Ranga, Chief Architect, Connected Ecosystem Labs, CTS and Mr. V. Srinivasa Raghavan – Head, R&D based Intelligent City Solutions, TCS conducted the session introducing the concept of a Smart City, update about Smart Cities in India and highlighted various successful case studies of developing and sustaining smart cities. Entrepreneurs from Real Estate, Construction and Manufacturing industries participated in the session.
The session discussed about how a city’s systems including local department information systems, education, transportation systems, hospitals, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement, and other community services can be improved with the help of technology. The experts stressed on the importance of sustainable growth for smart cities using renewable energy resources in plenty.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narayanan, President, TiE Chennai, says, “Smart cities” is a term denoting the integration of physical, digital and human systems in an urban environment to deliver a sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future for its citizens. With Chennai being planned as one of the Smart Cities under 100 Smart Cities programme, it is imperative for the entrepreneurs in the industry concerned to know the latest technologies available to successfully convert a city into a Smart City. We are happy that our Technology Special Interest Group has taken this initiative to update the industry with the latest trends in developing a Smart City by organizing this session. We will continue to organize such sessions in the future.”
