On July 24 at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chennai was hosted the first Conference of public organization – South Indian Association of Graduates from Medical Universities of Russia and the CIS countries (RMGA). The event was organized with the assistance of the department of representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India.The Conference was attended by Mr. M. Gorbatov, Deputy Head of mission Rossotrudnichestvo in India, Dr. M. Akilan, Secretary-General of RMGA, Graduate of Volgograd Medical University, Dr. Arunachalam, President of RMGA, Graduate of Minsk Medical University, Dr. Anton Avromenko from Samara Medical University, Dr. Madhushankar, Surgeon – Cardiologist as well as about 250 Graduates of Universities from former USSR and Russia- Indian practitioners and members of the Association.
In his address Mr. Gorbatov noted that with each year the number of people wishing to study in Russia increases. Traditionally with special attention South Indian students take advantage of Medical Universities. According to the data of the Chennai department of representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India the number of medical graduates in Andra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu makes up to 5 thousand people. Russian foreign students’ education strategy is essentially to prepare high-level professionals to serve their homeland, their people and society. Despite the fact that Russian graduates are highly skilled and practicing successfully in most cases, in recent years, there observed a tendency to increase regulatory measures, which is a part of the discrimination against graduates of Russia and CIS countries. He stressed that Russian diplomatic structures and the RCSC hereafter will give their full support to the Association.
Dr. M. Akilan and Dr. Arunachalam spoke about the activities of the organization headed by them, noting that the Association not only investigates cases of discrimination and makes the legitimate mechanisms to counteract it, but in general forms a positive attitude to the graduates of Russian universities to Russian education and culture in Indian society. They urged all delegates of the Conference to support their statement to the Indian Government for recognition of high qualifications of all graduates of Russian medical universities.
Other speakers talked about the quality of Russian education, which is always open to talented youth, regardless of class, economic status, religion and nationality. As well as shared their memories of stay in Russia and studies in universities.

The official part was followed by a cultural program. A team of traditional folk music of Tamil Nadu performed in it.
After lunch in the working session of the conference, reports of doctors – experts who successfully practice in hospitals of Chennai, Madurai, Trichi, Coimbatore and other cities of India were heard. Speakers shared their experiences.
