PENNKALVI Miniathon-16 Run for Girls Education

Pen Kalvi Marathon (1)Chennai, 7th August 2016 on 5.30 am to 8.30 am at Island Ground :-

Pen Kalvi Marathon (3)PENNKALVI RUN. More than the predicted 3000 plus runners—students, celebrities, VIP and athletes, turned out for the Miniathon – 16 event and Island Ground to Sivaji Ganesan Statue and return  to Island Ground totally 10 Kilo Meters making it, at least from 5.30 am to 8.00 am,  the largest gathering of like-minded people for Run to Educate in Chennai this season.

Pen Kalvi Marathon (7)While students from MOP Vaishnav College for Women, participated in full strength, equally infectious enthusiasm was show by others, who came purely to show their support for the cause. Many who couldn’t run the whole distance could been seen walking to the finish line, but not giving up. The spirit of the participants made the run a resounding success. A word of thanks must go out to the cops for being extra efficient in the way they handled the security and traffic for the crowd. It was efficient and non-intrusive.MOP Vaishnava College for Women had 25th Anniversary Year. Actor Vishal, who made an entry just minutes after the warm up session, connected more informally with the crowd as he shared the podium with the Principal of MOP college Dr. Lalitha Balakrishnan. Jy. Sec. Ashok Mithran, Women Sports Person Roshmi Chakravarthi. Help came in from all quarters and came in enthusiastically. Marina runners helped the participants with a warm up tips and the took the community through a routine just before the flag off and post run the stage was taken up by MOP singing team and Fitness Patrol.

Pen Kalvi Marathon (10)The Slogans were promoted in the Miniathon – 16 ” We run She Learns “, ” Let’s Runs for Their Future”, ” with every step you take towards the finishing line, a women gets closer to full empowerment ”

Men’s 10 k.m. First Prize won by Yogesh, Second Prize Mano, Third Prize Victor Samuvel.

Women’s  10 k.m. First Prize  First Prize won by Archana, Second Prize Grace, Third Price Rhythnsha.

Mens 5 k.m. First Prize won by Ajith, Second Prize Palanivel.

Women’s 5 k.m. First Prize Rebecca, Second Prize MOP Vaishnava College Student Tamilarasi.

Rhythnsha donated her Cash Prize to Women Educational Trust.
