

Chennai 23 August, 2016: The Raintree, St. Mary’s road will be hosting the flavors’ of Andhra cuisine at their all day dining restaurant, Colony starting from 22nd Aug until 3rd Sept. The food festival will be spearheaded by the well-known Chef Umapathy who is well versed with the authentic Andhra delicacies. Andhra cuisine is known for its spices and the festival will host the best combination of the spices used to deliver the delectable Andhra dishes.
Dominated by the presence of rice in almost all its meals, the state is home to the fiery Guntur red chili which is widely used to add sparks to its cuisine. The menu will feature cuisines such as koora, which include cooking different vegetables in a variety of styles – with gravy, frying, with lentils, etc, lentil based delicacies known as pappu and tamarind based – sour stew called pulusu. For the non-vegetarians there will be delightful mix of seafood, meat and eggs cooked in fiery spices and often teamed with vegetables like eggplant. kodi pulao, mamsam pulusu Gongura mamsam (lamb curry cooked with gongura leaves), Chepalapulusu (fish curry), Vennapoosa Veta Mamsam, Allam Kodi kura, korrameenu Pulusu, Naatu Kodi koora , Rayalaseema Royyalu are some of the prized possessions of the rich Andhra food.
