2nd EDITION of ‘CHENNAI GIVES’ Proudly Launched by UBER

UBER ChennaiChennai, August 26, 2016: Uber, the smartphone app that is transforming the way people move around in cities, has today announced the launch of the 2nd edition of ‘Chennai Gives’ in association with Round table 2 and Ladies Circle India Area 2, conceptualized by Madras Round Table 1. Chennai Gives is a citywide donation drive on 4th September, 2016, organized for the occasion of International Day of Charity the following day.

Post the successful first edition of the event in 2015, this year too Uber riders can donate new or old items that could include books, clothes, games, household items, school supplies etc. that will improve the lives of the less fortunate.

 

HOW TO DONATE

 

  1. Download the Uber app at t.uber.com/download
  2. Open the app on 4th September 2016 anytime between 09.00 am – 05.00 pm
  3. Slide to the ‘ChennaiGives’ option
  4. Hit request and an Uber donation vehicle will collect your supplies at your doorstep.

 

Commenting on this initiative, Bhavik Rathod, General Manager, South & West India, Uber said “We are thrilled to be roll out #Chennai Gives for the second consecutive year in the city. You can donate clothes, books, and other supplies through the Uber app on September 4th 2016, and we hope to see an increased participation this year.”

The beneficiary organizations are Lady Nye MRT1 School, YWCA Pastor Pfeiffer Girls Home, Saraswat Kendra, AH Secondary School, Little Hearts Home, Seva Samaja Girl’s Home, Mercy Home, Hope School, Ashirwadh Care, Kakkum Karangal, Little Drops, Manasa Institution for Special Children, Arunodayam, Karunai Trust and more.
