The Chennai Custom House Agents’ Assn. organized an Inauguration of their Old Renovated Building

cchaa 2The Chennai Custom House Agents’ Association a 58 year old body comprising more than 1000 members catering to the Import and Export Trade has organized an inauguration function of their 31 year old renovated building.

The building was declared open ny Honourable Minister for Commerce and Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Government of India by unveiling the corner stone and display of a videographic presentation of the newly renovated building situated at 40, Moore Street, Parrys, Chennai 600001 in close quarters to Customs and Port offices.

The building necessitated repairs to the structure and ceiling and a re look at the interiors  following deterioration due to the age of the building which was in dilapidated condition for quite some time. The remodeled and renovated building with structures repaired and rectified and done up with latest interior can cater to the demands of the members in term of additional halls in 3rd floor  and terrace for training needs, reference in Library etc., The basic needs for CHA community is to get enlightened on the latest Notifications issued by Customs, policy changes and happenings in the industry and hence the present investment in infrastructure for training needs squarely justifies the same.

Speaking on the occasion President Shri . KVV Giri said it was long felt need of the CHA’s  to have better infrastructure for training needs in the centre of activity in the Shipping Industry which is easily accessible and convenient for all members. He also used the opportunity to demand the Commerce Minister in extending schemes beneficial to Ports in Tamilnadu such as  Industrial corridors, Rail Connectivity et.,.

Shri. Samir Shah, Chairman Federation of Freight Forwarders Association in India the Apex body of 27 CHA’s Associations in India congratulated CCHAA and appreciated the gesture of Commerce Minister In coming down to Chennai for this inaugural function.

Shri.Xavier Britto, a doyen in the Industry also praised the CHA association for this feat.

Commerce Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman while declaring open the renovated building congratulated CCHAA and wished many more laurels to come for the CHA fraternity.

The Association organized programmes such as an awareness initiative on the International North South Corridor project undertaken by FFFAI under aegis’ of Commerce Ministry and a very Important Seminar on GST implementation and its effect on EXIM Trade and Customs Broker Trade.
