News 7 Tamil, an infotainment TV Channel committed to Tamil Pride, has instituted awards for Distinguished Personalities / Organizations of Tamil Origin for their illustrious service in upholding the Tamil Ethos and furthering the cause of the Classical Language “Tamil”. Tamil Ratna will be conferred on a Person who is the leading light and the champion of Tamil Cause and Development. Navratna awards for 9 achievers across various domains and 3 special awards for the most promising persons also to be given away.
Navratna awards are to be conferred on illustrious persons from different spheres namely Prose, poetry, Drama, Cinema, Business, Women’s Welfare, Medicine, Sports and Service Sectors.
The news channel is inviting applications from exemplary Tamils from around the world who support the Tamil Cause and contribute for the welfare of the human race through their field of interest. Nominations will be accepted till 12th March 2018. The nomination form is downloadable at www.tamilratna.com.

Nomination:
Self-nominations / recommendations by known individuals / institutions will be entertained.
Jury Panel:
The awardees will be chosen by an esteemed panel consisting of the 10 Jurors, namely Mr. K. Bhagyaraj, Film Director; Justice K.N. Basha, Former Judge of Madras High Court; Dr. Rajaram IAS, Former Secretary, Tamil Development Department, Government of TN; Ms. Gowthami, Film Actress; Mr. N. Gopalswamy, Former Chief Election Commissioner; Dr. Balaguruswamy, Former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University; Ms. Veena E. Gayathri, Veena Player; Tamil Writer and Motivational Speaker Mr. Lena Tamilvaanan; Ms. Anupama Shivaraman, Director, and Shriram Leadership Academy and Vice-President, FICCI FLO – Chennai Chapter, and Mr. Vasudevan Baskaran, Former Hockey Player.
Selection Process:
The awardees nominated by the Jurors will then be introduced to the Tamil Diaspora with a citation to vote and choose the person(s) for the Navaratna Award in the respective field.
As the future of any Nation is its younger generation. News 7 Tamil towards giving them due recognition has instituted the special awards and to be given away to youth for the outstanding service for the cause of Tamil. Selection of the awardees for the Special award will be done by Jurors.
However, the pinnacle of awards “Tamil Ratna” will be conferred on a Person chosen by the Distinguished Jurors.
Award Show:
All these awards shall be presented on a glorious and incredible Event in Chennai on April 14, 2018 (on Chithirai Thirunal). Tamil Leaders and Personalities across the globe shall participate in the event and honour the awardees. The Event will have Star attendees and performances illustrating the rich culture of Tamils.
