Super Star Rajinikanth has filed counter affidavit in the court over plagiarism charges against his film “Lingaa”. A filmmaker from Madurai, K R Ravi Rathinam had filed a writ petition last week alleging that the makers of Lingaa had stolen his story ‘Mullaivanam 999’ which he had uploaded in YouTube last year.

The director of Lingaa, K S Ravikumar filed his counter affidavit a few days before, in it he claims that the story of Lingaa has been written by Ponkumaran and he had written the screenplay and denied Ravi Rathinam allegations.

Now, the lead star Rajinikanth come forward to defend the film, asserting that Ponkumaran has written Lingaa’s story. He further states that people cannot claim copyright on the subject of Mullaperiyar, Pennycuick and the nationalization of rivers. The actor says the charges against his film is not true and it was made to tarnish his image.
